Get to Know Dr. Subeena Thomas
A native of Libertyville, IL, Dr. Subeena Thomas has been part of the dental field for several years and enjoys working alongside a group of equally passionate and expert dentists. The best thing about her job is having the opportunity to positively impact a child’s lifelong oral health. Being able to work with her patients to overcome their anxieties about dental visits while seeing their smiles light up after having a stress-free experience is incredibly rewarding. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Thomas learned that she wanted to become a dentist when she was in school because she understood the technical skills involved in the world of dentistry. On top of that, the profession requires excellent communication as well as the capacity to build rapport with people in the community. She wanted the chance to help make patients feel comfortable and supported, especially in a setting where many find it intimidating to undergo the dental care they need. Today, she gets to do exactly this and more while providing effective and personalized treatments for others.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
To begin her career in dentistry, Dr. Thomas first attended the University of Illinois at Chicago after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She later underwent specialized training in her pediatric dentistry residency program, volunteered at a non-profit dental clinic for three years, and even completed a dental mission in Honduras. Over the years, she achieved various positions such as a former Chapter President of the American Student Dental Association, Board Member of the American Dental Education Association, and Vice President of the Dental Student Council.
Dr. Thomas remains dedicated to continuing education to expand her skills and is a proud member of different professional organizations, including:

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
At home, Dr. Thomas loves spending time with her loved ones—especially her niece and nephew. Her hobbies include activities like intramural sports, attending concerts or living music events, and trying new boba flavors with friends whenever she gets the chance. A fun fact about her: when she was a girl, she wanted to be an astronaut!
